John Gale5 Feb 2020 - 12:29

Joins the Club as Senior Player/Coach

Corsham CC are delighted to announce the arrival of Joe Breet as Senior Player Coach for the 2020 season.

Corsham was Joe's first UK club, and played in three friendly matches in August and September 2002. He scored a total of 187 runs with a highest score of 99*. In April, May and June 2003, Joe played 16 matches (12 x 1st + 4 x 2nd) and scored 451 runs with a top score of 98*.

Joe is currently the all time leading run scorer in WEPL history with over 10,000 WEPL runs and arrives at Station Road with a clear goal in mind: “Promotion, I really want to see Corsham back in Premier One where they belong! On a wider level I am keen to make a strong impact on the club and push all players to give their best possible performances on a Saturday. I am really excited about coming to Corsham and cannot wait to get started

Visitors to Station Road will remember Joe’s excellent hundred in a losing effort playing for Goatacre in last season’s WEPL Glos/Wilts match.

Joe played for Wiltshire CCC between 2009 and 2014 and was appointed captain for the 2011 to 2013 seasons. He scored 1460 Championship runs in 53 innings which included 7 x 50s and 3 x 100s. He also played in 19 Minor Counties Trophy matches scoring a total of 620 runs which included 4 x 50s and 1 x 100.

Corsham CC Director of Cricket Peter Dennett added "Having played with Joe back in 2002 when he first came to the country I have always looked at him as the one who got away from Corsham CC. Therefore, when Joe spoke with us about taking on the coaching role and really wanting to give back to the younger players at the club with his skill and experience I was absolutely delighted. We’ve had a couple of hard years as a club but I think the arrival of Joe mixed with the quality young players we have developed through the club's Academy and Performance programmes over the past couple of years really stands us in good stead heading into 2020, and I am really excited to be a part of it".

The Club expects all its followers to join in welcoming Joe to the club. In a corresponding move Adam Mitchell has signalled his intent to move to Goatacre for the season. The club wish Adam well for 2020.

For anybody interested in playing for Corsham CC in 2020 and beyond please contact director of cricket Peter Dennett on 07946 894183 or email on 'peter.dennett554@hotmail.co.uk'
