Information has been received by Corsham CC that former opening bat/wicketkeeper and Club Life Member, MARTIN SCOTT passed away peacefully at his Pound Pill bungalow at 6.30pm this evening (24th October). He was just coming up to his 81st birthday.
He had recently spent some time in the Royal United Hospital after a visit to the Porch Surgery.
After scans and tests he was diagnosed with a brain tumour which proved inoperable due to Martin's age and frail condition.
While in hospital he was visited by a number of his playing contemporaries but he longed to be at home. Thanks to his former next-door neighbours, John-Paul and Georgina Story this became possible over a week ago after JPS had arranged visits by health visitors.
Martin's death has come as a great shock to those that knew him despite the recent gloomy prognosis. His return to his home would have been a great comfort to him, and thanks must be given to JPS and Georgy for arranging his return.
Details of his funeral will be posted as and when they become known.
